“All gardening is landscape painting.” Alexander Pope
Unfortunately, my garden would qualify more as a study in beige and brown than a landscape painting. However, I did have the opportunity to be ensconced in a forested landscape of pines and Douglas firs this weekend. A confluence of weather and driving conditions led my girl posse to the Black Canyon Campground.

Black Canyon Campground is about eight miles north of Santa Fe on the Hyde Park Road and has a one mile hiking loop. It took us about 2 hours to snow shoe the loop. We stopped for food and water, photo breaks, and to step aside for cross country skiers. And of course to lavish attention on any dog who happened our way.
I love conifers and the best thing about snow is the incredible photos they make.
ReplyDeleteCher Sunray Gardens
Pekné zimné obrázky. Inšpirovala si ma ísť na prechádzku do lesa. Určite tak v najbližších dňoch urobím. Konečne dnes u nás svieti slnko.
ReplyDeletegorgeous...no snowshoeing here this year...no snow that stayed long enough..so strange
ReplyDeleteI love the snow pom poms on the conifers! Sounds like a lovely winter outing!
ReplyDeleteI can relate to the beige and brown. What with all the snow, even the customary ble has given way to grey skies. Tiresome. A trip to the evergreens sounds like a wonderful antidote. Failing that, I can at least enjoy your lovely photos :-)
ReplyDeleteSounds like a wonderful trip, and a beautiful place to be.
ReplyDeleteNasypało śniegu, oj nasypało. Na drugim zdjęciu wygląda jak białe kwiaty. Pozdrawiam. *** An attack by the snow, oh, an attack by. In the second picture looks like white flowers. Yours.
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm so glad you could get out to enjoy those gorgeous trees in the snow! The brownery does get a little old this time of year. Gorgeous photos. And dogs on a playday after a snowstorm--how much more fun can it get?
ReplyDeleteYou stay so busy, hiking and camping all the time! I wish I got half as much out of my surroundings as you do!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the beautiful pictures of snow, what a treat.
ReplyDeleteI love that quote. So true.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your snow photos. We have not had much snow this winter, and I miss it.
ReplyDeleteWordless, no. Beautiful, evocative, artistic, yes.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't make those trees upset- it looks like they are well armed with tons of snowballs! Wish we had a bit of snow down here.
ReplyDeleteSounds like great fun, trees are beautiful in the snow.
ReplyDeleteOh I'm sorry I didn't see this when you first posted it. These photos are beautiful! We haven't had much snow this winter, just a dusting here and there. These pics are my little taste of winter. :)
ReplyDeleteI am always up for a weekend adventure. It is snowing like mad here and the garden looks pretty snow covered very much like these pictures.
